Civic Street Open Day – May 7th

On May 7th we are launching our first Civic Street Open Day alongside our partners Bike For Good and Glasgow Tool Library.

Volunteer, get involved and drop-in for a day of cooking, building, mural painting, tool-fixing, bike riding and more!

Where: Civic Street, G4 9RH

When: May 7th 2022, 11 AM – 4.30 PM

Across the whole day there will be various activities to get involved with and a served lunch at 1 PM. All ages welcome.

Programme:

 

Introduction to Sourdough, Pasta & Cheese making with Sean Hussain/ Good Stuff*

Learn to make handmade sourdough, gnocchi and ricotta in a tactile and fun workshop with Good Stuff’s Sean Hussain. Working together as a team you will prepare and cook lunch for the other workshop participants while gaining basic skills in artisanal Italian inspired cooking. Vegetarian with vegan options available and nut-allergy friendly!

Wildlife Habitat Building with Matija Kraljić & Zoe Pearson

11 AM – 4.30 PM (Lunch break at 1 PM)

In this workshop you will build various habitats for the insects and wildlife of Civic Street, looking at the most simple ways to promote life and biodiversity in the area’s ecology.

Sounds of the Site with Tino Kellighan & Michaela Pointon

11 AM – 4.30 PM (Lunch break at 1 PM)

Using found materials you will make instruments with Tino Kellighan and Michaela Pointon which will capture and contribute to the soundscapes of Civic Street.

Tool BigFix with Glasgow Tool Library

11 AM – 4.30 PM (Lunch break at 1 PM)

Glasgow Tool Library will be in the Venue at Civic House where they will be running a volunteer tool ‘Big Fix’ with support from the Repair Cafe. Outside in Civic Street Yard a library working group of volunteers will be sorting through tool donations ahead of their next yard sale.

 

Cycle Saturdays with Bike For Good

11 AM – 4.30 PM (Lunch break at 1 PM)

Join Bike for Good at Civic Street for their ‘learn to ride’ lessons in the morning and a led bike ride in the afternoon. Fancy a smoothie? You can pedal your own with B4G’s smoothie bike all day at Civic Street Yard.
