4/4 Lights and signs
Currently the site is very dark at night – making it feel unsafe to travel past or through. Civic Street is a key gateway to the canal network which should be celebrated – however it is very confusing and poorly sign-posted.
Current Issues Highlighted
- Site is poorly lit, with a couple of dark corners that feel unsafe
- Site is not communicating the activities and locations in the area - lack of signage and updated information
- Cycling junction is difficult to navigate, with people often taking wrong turns
Proposed Interventions
- Introduction of new street lighting in key locations
- Introduction of path lights highlighting the shared path
- Responsive lighting sculpture and intervention
- Improved signage and way-marking across the site
