GTL Fun Day at Civic Street Open Day – June 4th

Join us on June 4th for the second Civic Street Open Day. For this iteration we are delighted to host Glasgow Tool Library‘s Fun Day – with a selection of workshops and activities around getting to know your tools and the wonderful library!

Sign-up, get involved and drop-in for a day of tool workshops, yard sales, games and bike rides.

Across the whole day there will be various activities to get involved with and lunch at 1 PM. All ages welcome with some workshops for over 18s only.

Where: Civic Street, G4 9RH

When: June 4th 2022, 10 AM – 4.30 PM

Some activities are ticketed and run on a Pay What You Can basis, please check individual listings for more details.

GTL Yard Sale – Drop-in/ Free

10:00 – 13:00

Come along to our second Yard Sale at Civic Street Yard to browse through tools to find yourself a bargain – cheap as chisels!

If you have any tools (preferably in working condition) that you want to donate, bring them along in advance or in the morning and we can sort through them and add them to our catalogue or sell them on the day to bring in money for the charity.

Intro to Power Tools – Ticketed

Intro to Drills | 10:00 – 11:30

Intro to Saws | 12:00 – 13:30

Intro to Sanding | 14:30 – 16:00

Over 18s

Amelia Bywater will lead three workshops providing an introduction to a power tool and the skills you need to complete woodwork & DIY tasks safely and effectively.

These workshops are perfect for beginners who want to get to know their power tools better and to be able to assess a DIY problem with creativity by knowing the scope of the tools and accessories available at the tool library.

 

Intro to Sewing – Ticketed

Morning session: 11:00 – 13:00

Afternoon session:14:00 – 16:00

Over 18s

This two hour workshop, led by our wonderful volunteer Margaret Mitchel, introduces you to the basics of a sewing machine through sewing your own tool roll, such as chisels. You are welcome to bring your own tools (small gardening tools, jewellery, etc) and make your tool roll to their measurements. Materials are provided, but if you have material you would like to use, feel free to bring them with you.

 

Cycle Saturdays with Bike For Good – Drop-in/ Free

10:00 – 16:00

Join Bike for Good at Civic Street for their ‘learn to ride’ lessons in the morning and a led bike ride in the afternoon. Fancy a smoothie? You can pedal your own with B4G’s smoothie bike all day at Civic Street Yard.

  • DIY puncture repair drop-ins 10:00 – 12:00
  • Learn to ride group cycle lesson 10:00 – 11:00
  • Confidence building cycle lesson 11:00 – 12:00
  • Led Bike Ride – 14:00 – 16:00
  • Smoothie bike and Info stall – All Day
  • E-cargo bike trials – All Day
